ARCHIVAL PROJECTS.

Guerilla Archiving in Samaná & Puerto Plata.

I preserve documents in remote regions of the Dominican Republic, from Samaná to Puerto Plata to Dajabón. As I recover Black Dominicanas’ thinking across Ayiti, my practices are reinforcing and systematically digitizing archives across the Caribbean.

Cimarronas: A Black Women’s Archive of Ayiti.

A digital platform for the narration of the histories of ten Black women across colonial Ayiti, the island that is now Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Beyond a transnational framework, Cimarronas moves scholars toward an understanding of the shared history of the island, particularly in the 16th through 19th centuries.

Black Dominican Studies Mentoring.

The intersection of Black Studies and Dominican Studies offers us new tools for studying Hispaniola. As a Black Studies scholar, I encourage my students to develop their Dominican Studies projects through grounded engagements with Black Studies scholarship and methodologies.
